Why handmade soaps need time to cure
Handmade soap contains glycerin which is a natural by-product of the soap making process, an excellent moisturizer, and also one of the reasons that handmade soap is SO good for your skin! Glycerin is an emollient which attracts moisture from the air maintaining moisture in the skin throughout the day. Commercially the glycerine is removed from soap to use in lotions and moisturizers, leaving bars that require little or no time to cure.
The second reason handmade soaps need time to cure because they are not loaded with salts, sulphates, and other drying agents which dehydrate both the soap and your skin.
So enjoy the better bubble and double-dip in moisturizing handmade soaps, with all their glycerin, and without the salts!
